Josep Serra had also had a prolific personal development
as a ceramist, apart from
his tasks in the familiar factory. He exhibited pieces
at Exposició de Primavera in 1932, wich
was held at Palau de Projeccions de Montjuic.
El 1935 he also did it at the collective exhibition
at Fira de Mostres de París, and participated,
with his brothers, in several ceramics exhibits carried
out at Milan.

His
intellectual activism
entailed that he was associated in several organizations
and cultural groups. some
of his social projectsels we could emphasize the intention
to revital "l'Escola Superior de bells oficis",
unfortunately his docent career was truncated
because of the war. However, he took part actively at
the Comissariat de Propaganda de la Generalitat de
Catalunya organizing in Mexico an exhibition about
catalan art, after three months there, he came back
to Spain

to carring out the exhibition as the larger part of
the pieces had been confiscated by the pro-Franco force.
He incorporated in republican army at thelast months
of the war. When it finished, he seemed obligated to
go to France, where he was confined in a concentration
camp, being sent back to Spain , where he recovered
freedom after more than one year.
He comes back to Cornellà in 1940 and, later
the terrible break of the war, reprimands his work.
He marries with the pianist María Moragas in
1941,
after one year his first son is born, Jordi , who will
be very important in Ceràmica
Serra development.
Next
years had been of consolidation of ceramics made by
Josep Serrain particular and the family as a whole.
It has been hold exhibitions of his work. Josep Serra
receives the honour, in 1986

by la Generalitat de Catalunya, de Mestre
Artesàde la Ceràmica. El 1987 an important
collective exhibition is realized in the hall La
Rectoria of Cornellà de Llobregat.
At
the beginig Josep Serra centred almost all his interests
on the monocromatics enamels, and on smooth decorations
of geometric and figurative drawings, or of plants,
nearly always painted or silk-screen printed.
Josep Serra died in July of 1989, he was eighty-two,
after taking up ceramics all his live, occupation that
he continued practicing until the day of his death.
he left an
influence based in the technical and artistic knowledgement
, not only in his own creative
side also in his work for "Cerámica Serra".
